Why Emily asks
Anyone can type any email address into a sign-up form. If Emily simply trusted that, someone could register your address, and mail meant for you could be treated as theirs. Confirming the address closes that gap. It takes one click and you only do it once per address.
How to confirm
- Look for the email from Emily with the subject about confirming your address. It arrives when you sign up.
- Click Confirm my email address.
- That's it - you'll be returned to your dashboard and Emily will start working.
If you can't find it, check your spam or junk folder. You can send yourself a new link at any time from your dashboard - if your address isn't confirmed yet you'll see a Verify my email button.
Emily isn't responding to my emails
If your address hasn't been confirmed, Emily won't act on instructions sent from it - she'll reply asking you to confirm first. She isn't ignoring you, and nothing you've sent is lost. Confirm the address, send your request again, and she'll pick it straight up.
Adding another address to send from
You can add more addresses so Emily recognises you when you write from a different account - your work address as well as your personal one, for example.
- Go to Settings and add the address.
- Emily emails a confirmation link to that address.
- Open it from that mailbox and click Confirm this address.
Until it's confirmed, Emily ignores anything sent from it - the rest of your account is unaffected. Additional addresses are only charged once they're confirmed and working, so you're never billed for one you can't use. Confirmation links expire after 60 minutes; you can request a new one from Settings.
A message wasn't actioned
Emily checks that email claiming to come from you genuinely did. If a message fails that check, she holds it rather than acting on it, and it's reviewed before anything happens. Occasionally this catches a real message - usually when the sending domain is misconfigured. If something you sent wasn't picked up, send it again from a confirmed address, or email help@emily-wrf.com.
What we can see
When a message is held, our team can see the sender address, the subject line and the authentication result - never the message body or attachments. Messages that pass the check are never held or reviewed. There's more detail in our Privacy Policy.
