Before you start
- On your phone, open emily.whiterabbitfoundry.com/dashboard in your browser and sign in.
- Use the phone's own browser - Safari or Chrome on iPhone, Chrome or Samsung Internet on Android. If you opened the link from inside another app (Gmail, LinkedIn, WhatsApp), choose Open in browser first: in-app browsers can't add apps.
Signed in on the dashboard, you may see an Install Emily banner - tapping it takes you through the same steps.
iPhone and iPad
In Safari. Using Chrome on iPhone? See the note after the steps.
Open the Share menu
On iOS 26, tap the ••• button beside the address bar, then Share. On earlier versions, tap the Share button (a square with an arrow) - at the bottom of the screen on iPhone, top right on iPad.
Tap Add to Home Screen
Scroll down the list and tap Add to Home Screen.
Keep “Open as Web App” on, then tap Add
Leave the name as Emily and keep Open as Web App switched on (iOS 26 shows this switch; earlier versions do it automatically). Tap Add.
Open Emily from your Home Screen
Tap the Emily icon. It opens full screen without the browser bars. Sign in once if asked - the app keeps its own sign-in, separate from Safari.
Turn on notifications (optional)
Inside the app, go to Account settings, Notifications, tap Enable notifications and then Allow. On iPhone and iPad, notifications only work from the Home Screen app.
Chrome on iPhone or iPad: tap the Share button on the right of the address bar, choose Add to Home Screen, then Add.
Android
In Chrome. Using Samsung Internet? See the note after the steps.
Tap Install on the Emily banner - or use the menu
If the Install Emily banner shows, tap Install and skip to step 3. Otherwise tap the ⋮ menu at the top right of Chrome.
Choose Install
Tap Install app (on some versions it's Add to home screen or Install and create shortcut).
Confirm
Tap Install. Emily appears on your home screen and in your app list.
Turn on notifications (optional)
Open Emily, go to Account settings, Notifications, tap Enable notifications and then Allow.
Samsung Internet: tap the menu (≡), choose Add page to, then Home screen. If an install icon appears in the address bar, you can tap that instead.
On a computer
- Chrome or Edge (Windows, Mac, ChromeOS): click the install icon at the right of the address bar, or the ⋮ / … menu, then Install Emily (in Chrome it may sit under Cast, save and share).
- Safari on Mac (macOS Sonoma or later): choose File > Add to Dock, keep the name and click Add.
- Firefox doesn't install web apps - bookmark the dashboard instead, or use Chrome, Edge or Safari.
Removing the app
- iPhone and iPad: press and hold the Emily icon, tap Remove App (or Delete Bookmark), then confirm.
- Android: press and hold the icon and tap Uninstall, or go to Settings > Apps, choose Emily and tap Uninstall.
- Computer: open Emily, then use its menu to Uninstall; on Mac Safari, remove it from the Dock and the Applications folder.
Removing the app doesn't touch your Emily account - your rules, calendars and history stay, and you can still use Emily by email or in the browser.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Resolution |

| There's no Add to Home Screen or Install option | You're probably in another app's built-in browser or a private tab. Open the dashboard in Safari or Chrome (not private) and try again. |
| The app asks me to sign in again | That's normal on iPhone and iPad the first time: the Home Screen app keeps its own sign-in. Sign in once inside the app. |
| Notifications don't arrive on iPhone | Open Emily from the Home Screen icon (not Safari), turn notifications on in Account settings, and check Settings > Notifications > Emily on the phone. Needs iOS 16.4 or later. |
| It opens in the browser, not full screen | On iOS 26, remove the icon and add it again with Open as Web App switched on. |
| The Install Emily banner has gone | It hides once you've installed Emily or closed it for this visit. The steps above work at any time without it. |
